Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger point therapy

Trigger point therapy focuses on detecting and releasing trigger points in order to relieve pain in the skeletal muscle. Trigger points are spots that produce pain when compressed and they almost always refer pain in other areas of the body. Consequently, as an example – you have have pain in your hip joint or gluteal area, but one of the trigger points that refers pain there is located just under your rib cage next to the spine. In many cases, trigger points form as a result of trauma to the muscle fibers. Trigger point therapy is most always uncomfortable, even painful at the time of the massage. The pain can last through the next day. Almost all clients who receive this kind of treatment report feeling great on day 2 following the session. IT IS VITAL TO DRINK PLENTY OF WATER BEFORE AND AFTER THESE SESSIONS! (Massage definitions reference those from the Association of Bodywork and Massage Professionals Glossary – used with permission.)
